Resource Economic Planning & Coordination Unit


Vision

A high level resource and economic analysis in both fisheries and marine resources development to promote sustainable development goals toward the government aspirations for achieving the highest level of economic and social benefits from the marine resources in particular the fisheriesand mineral resources.

Mission

REPCU is bound to perform a broad consultative/coordinative and holistic approach in the role of resource planning and economic analysis to providean informed decision makingprocess through the following;

  • Leadin the formulation of policies, plans and strategies, and to monitor and evaluate the implementation of all development programs and projects,
  • Provide proactive and sound policy analysis, strategic planning, effective communication, sharing and dissemination of data and information, and advice on all economic and developmental issues for the Ministry,
  • Work closely with FFA and SPC in particular to improve economic analysis and modeling on fisheries and mineral resources, including Joint-Venture companies.
  • Provide a coordinative and collaborative approach to the local communities, key stakeholders, both private and government sectors, and development partners,
  • Maintaining a quality performance in the role of planning and advisory to the Secretary and the Minister in a timely manner, and to facilitate and strengthen the management and decision making of the Ministry.

Organisation and Accountabilities

REPCU is currently manned by 4 permanent staff. The Resource Policy Advisor (RPA) is head of the REPCU and responsible for overall administration and management of the Unit. All staff of REPCU will report to RPA on all duties directed to them including the following;

  1. Resource Policy Advisor
  2. Senior Resource Economist
  3. Project Economist
  4. Project Officers
