Information Technology Unit

The main function of the Information Technology (IT) Unit is to support the efficient use of Information Technology facilities and systems so that they will be responsive to the needs of staff and the Ministry. Its main responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Operation, support, maintenance and enhancement of existing computer system   
  • Management, enhancement and support of the Ministry's local networking infrastructure
  • Implementation of the Ministry's IT Strategy
  • Maintenance of electronic communications with external organisations   
  • Procurement of all IT hardware, software and consumables required by the Ministry
  • Providing user support to Ministry staff including relevant system documentation and one-to-one tutorials
  • Maintenance of Fisheries Licensing Database
  • Maintenance and enhancement of the Ministry's Website
